As of: 22 September 2026
These Terms and Conditions are provided in English for your convenience. The German version is the legally binding version. If you have any questions, please contact us at manuelalorenz@alongside.at.
(1) These Terms and Conditions apply to all outdoor offers of alongside. e.U., owner Manuela-Michaela Lorenz (hereinafter „alongside“): guided hikes with and without photography, snowshoe hikes, sunset tours, forest bathing and multi-day tours with overnight stays in mountain huts.
(2) In these terms, all offers except multi-day hut tours are referred to as day offers. Where different rules apply to multi-day tours, this is stated explicitly.
(1) Your enquiry via the website, e-mail, phone or Instagram is non-binding.
(2) The contract is concluded with the written booking confirmation by e-mail. It states the service, the total price and the payment deadlines.
(3) If you book for other people, you confirm that all participants know and accept these Terms and Conditions. The person booking must be of legal age.
(1) The service is defined by the description on the respective page of alongside.at and by the booking confirmation.
(2) The group size is stated on the respective tour page. Day offers have a maximum of 10 people, forest bathing a maximum of 8, multi-day tours a maximum of 9.
(3) Not included are travel to and from the meeting point, tolls, parking, bus or taxi, as well as food and drinks.
(4) For multi-day tours, alongside reserves the sleeping places in the mountain huts for you. The accommodation contract is concluded exclusively between you and the respective mountain hut. You pay for accommodation and meals in cash on site. The tour price covers planning, organisation and guiding only.
(5) For snowshoe hikes, you can add rental equipment for € 10 per person. What is included is stated on the page Snowshoe hiking. It is available in limited quantities only. Please state what you need and your shoe size when you send your enquiry; it is reserved only with the booking confirmation. You handle it with care, use it only during the booked tour, do not pass it on to others and bring it back at the end of the tour. You report damage or loss at the latest when you return it. In case of loss or damage that goes beyond normal wear and tear, alongside charges the cost of repair or replacement at current value.
(1) The requirements regarding fitness, sure-footedness and equipment are stated for each tour. If you have health restrictions that may be relevant to your participation, you discuss them with the mountain hiking guide in person or by phone before the tour.
(2) Minimum age: hikes 6 years, forest bathing 15 years, multi-day tours 16 years. Minors may only participate when accompanied by a legal guardian.
(3) The instructions of the certified mountain hiking guide must be followed. Anyone who endangers the safety of the group, is inadequately equipped, is clearly overwhelmed or is under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be excluded from the tour. In this case there is no entitlement to a refund.
(4) Tours are guided in German and, if required, in English.
(1) The prices listed on alongside.at under Prices at the time of booking apply, including any surcharge for single bookings. All prices are final prices per person. For services in 2026, no VAT is charged due to the small business regulation (§ 6 Abs. 1 Z 27 UStG). For services from 1 January 2027, prices include 20 % VAT.
(2) Day offers are paid in cash at the meeting point before the tour starts. For a total amount of 400 € or more, you pay in advance by bank transfer upon invoice. The amount must be received at the latest 48 hours before the tour starts.
(3) Multi-day tours: A deposit of 30 % is due within 7 days of the booking confirmation, the balance no later than 42 days before the tour starts. If you book later than 42 days before the tour starts, you pay the full amount within 3 days. You will receive an invoice for each payment and pay by bank transfer.
(4) If a payment is not received on time, you will receive a reminder with a 5-day grace period. After that, alongside may withdraw from the contract and give the place to someone else. The cancellation fees according to § 7 then apply.
For leisure services on a specific date, there is no right of withdrawal under § 18 Abs. 1 Z 10 FAGG. You can, however, cancel according to § 7.
(1) Please send cancellations by e-mail to manuelalorenz@alongside.at. The time the e-mail is received is decisive. The cancellation terms apply from the booking confirmation, even if payment has not yet been made.
(2) Day offers: You can cancel or rebook free of charge up to 48 hours before the tour starts. After that, and in case of no-show, the full tour price is due. In case of illness with a medical certificate, the fee does not apply.
(3) Multi-day tours: Because the hut places are reserved long in advance, the following cancellation fees apply, calculated from the tour price:
Costs that alongside actually incurs with the mountain huts as a result of your cancellation are charged in addition and documented. For multi-day tours, a medical certificate does not exempt you from the cancellation fee. We recommend travel cancellation insurance for this. If a more favourable rule for you is stated on a tour page, that rule applies.
(4) Substitute participant: For multi-day tours, you can name a substitute participant who meets the participation requirements up to 7 days before the tour starts. In this case no cancellation fee applies. Rebooking costs charged by the mountain huts are passed on.
(5) A change of date for multi-day tours counts as a cancellation unless otherwise agreed.
(6) If you end a tour early of your own accord, there is no pro-rata refund. You bear any costs caused by ending early, such as return transport or non-cancellable overnight stays.
(1) Safety comes first. In case of unfavourable weather, weather warnings, avalanche danger, icing or official closures, alongside may cancel or postpone the tour or change the route. For day offers, the decision is made by 6 pm on the evening before at the latest, unless the situation changes at short notice. A change of route for safety reasons does not entitle you to a price reduction as long as the character of the tour is preserved.
(2) If alongside cancels a tour before it starts, you receive an alternative date or a full refund of the amount paid.
(3) If a multi-day tour has to be ended during the tour for weather or safety reasons, you receive, at your choice, a pro-rata refund or a voucher for the tour days not carried out. Mountain hut costs already incurred are not covered.
(4) Multi-day tours take place with a minimum of 4 participants. If this number is not reached, alongside may cancel the tour up to 21 days before it starts. Open group dates for day offers take place with a minimum of 2 people and may be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance.
(5) If Manuela Lorenz cannot guide a tour for an important reason, alongside may appoint an equally authorised certified mountain hiking guide. If this is not possible, paragraph (2) applies. For tours with photography, the photography share is then omitted or refunded.
(6) Further claims, for example for travel or accommodation costs, are excluded to the extent permitted by law.
(1) For offers with photography, the number of edited photos stated on the offer page is included. The photography is documentary, the selection and editing are done by alongside.
(2) You receive the photos within 5 working days via a download link that is valid for 30 days. After that, the data is deleted. RAW files are not handed over.
(3) By booking an offer with photography, you agree that photos of you are taken for your private use. Whether photos in which you are recognisable may be used on the website or on social media is your free and separate decision. You can withdraw this consent at any time by e-mail.
(1) Mountain hiking involves typical risks such as sudden weather changes, rockfall, falls or exhaustion. You are responsible for your own fitness, your equipment and for following instructions. Anyone who leaves the group on their own initiative or does not follow instructions does so at their own risk.
(2) Manuela Lorenz is an authorised certified mountain hiking guide under the Styrian Mountain Sports Act and guides all tours within this authorisation and with the necessary care. Professional liability insurance is provided through the Styrian Mountain Sports Guides Association.
(3) Statutory liability applies to personal injury. For damage to property and financial loss, alongside is liable only in cases of intent and gross negligence. No liability is accepted for items you bring along.
(4) We recommend insurance that covers rescue and recovery costs, for example through membership of the Alpine Club or a supporting membership of the mountain rescue service. For multi-day tours we also recommend travel cancellation and interruption insurance.
Your data is processed only to handle your booking. Details can be found in the privacy policy on alongside.at.
(1) Austrian law applies. For consumers, the mandatory statutory provisions on jurisdiction apply.
(2) If any provision is invalid, the remaining provisions remain valid.
